At Long Last A New Post From Hugo

Well, as someone recently pointed out to me by email, it has been a very long time since I added a new post on the old blog. I do enjoy sharing things with you all when I get the time, but that’s just the problem. I know…everyone wants what they want, when they want it, but life just doesn’t work that way, at least not for me.

I do have a number of web presences where we try to keep everyone abreast of all of the happenings that relate to me, my music, and my life to an extent. The rub occurs because I am actually having a life. I find so little time to sit down at the computer because there is just sooo much to see and do and so very precious little time to do it all.

I wish I could have a team of people doing all of this for me, but that just doesn’t feel right to me either. When I signed on for this job, I made a promise to myself that I would give my friends and fans 100% of myself, my music, and my attention, for as long as I could possibly do it. That means when you get an email signed “Hugo”, it’s from me. You can bank on it. If you read something here that has my name on it, you can bet that I sat down and wrote it. I feel that you folks who support the music, the live shows, the web sites, and all of the other things that make up the business of “Hugo” what it is. If ever I am unable to continue this commitment, you will know because there will clearly be a change in the way things go out from “Hillbilly Beach”. Things will no longer be signed “Hugo”, they will be from Hugo By…. I will insist on that.

Anyhow, let me share some new things with you. Paul Simon sang, “I got a Nikon camera, I love to take photographs…” I got a Canon Camera, and I love to take photographs! I had been using a small digital camera and got some cool shots, but I was frustrated because I need to see the shot in a viewfinder. Now I can do some of the things I want to do with the camera, but I’m still learning.

I just got back from a month-long trek across the country to the West Coast where I spent time in the Seattle area, Lakewood, Wilsonville, Woodinville, Kirkland, Portland, Tualatin, Mission Viejo, Los Angeles, Brea, San Diego, and a few places where I just got lost and enjoyed every minute of it. I visited with many dear friends, shopped for new musical equipment, shopped for a chopper at “Triple Threat Choppers” , ate sushi, steak, donuts, and Knott’s Berry Farm fried chicken. Got some really good Mexican food, (outstanding green corn tamales) and some great Chinese food and along the way, celebrated another birthday.

I visited with some friends who are recovering from surgery, one in the hospital, and even had some folks take care of me when I got a little under the weather. All in all, it was a very good month of new experiences, some great shows with some really great musicians, and memories to last a lifetime. Or, I could have sat right here and typed on my computer. You do the math. Til next time, here are some photographs….

  1. Life is for living! You’d have nothing to write about if you weren’t out doing what you do! So everyone should make a promise to themselves to go out and experience life, THEN check the blogs and websites on the rain/snow days or when they are feeling under the weather!
Glad you had a great trip – we loved having you here in SoCal! Cheers!
